Investment Criteria

Market Sector

We achieve long term shareholder growth by investing in individuals and companies in their very early stages of development. Typically they are engaged in research, design and development of technology products in a range of market sectors including information and communications technology, and the internet, and in then manufacturing and distributing these products in global markets throughout the world.

Type of Investment

We invest either in ordinary shares, convertible notes or preference shares, depending on the circumstances and future funding requirements of a company.

Stage of Development

We are an early stage investor, usually the first round and the first professional investor in a company. Typically, this is before the company achieves first revenues but with a product which is largely complete. We also make follow on investments, typically with co-investment partners.

Management

We invest in committed management/founders who have enthusiasm, integrity and a clear vision for their companies. But we assume that in many cases the management team will not be fully complete.

Business Model

We seek revenue models which have high gross margins and low capital expenditure profiles and the ability to penetrate global markets. We prefer to avoid companies which are likely to require more than 2 funding rounds and which have long break even timetables.

Product/Service

We seek products and/or services which are unique, useful and do not require a significant change in customer behaviour. We prefer that these products include clear intellectual property (IP) which is/has been patented.

Size

We seek companies with very large growth potential in large and global markets.

Competition

We look for founders with a clear understanding of the competitive landscape and a commitment to research and development to protect their market position.

Exit

A company must be an attractive acquisition target or an IPO candidate.
